Carl International Film Festival (CIFF) is a new film festival in Karlskrona, Sweden. The festival aims to promote openness and freedom, and to highlight directors and filmmakers who work for this through their films. At the same time want to CIFF be a platform for new film from the Baltic Sea countries and offer an international platform where the best of this region are presented in the film program.
The festival also strives to be a film industry forum, aming to present new opportunities for international co-productions, financing of film and audiovisual media and storytelling, all the time with the framing of Karlskrona and Southern Sweden.
The first edition of CIFF was held between September 8-13, 2017.
The festival program will consist of films from all over the world in different thematic film panoramas with focus on openness, freedom and peace. The festival will also present a main program with focus on new films from the Baltic Sea countires, including, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia and Finland. During the festival a number of directors, actors and screenwriters from the festival films will visit Karlskrona to participate in audience talks after the films and seminars.
Carl Film Forum (CFF) will be held in parallell to the festival. CFF will be a film industry forum, where new opportunities for international co-productions, funding for film and audiovisual industries, and tourism will be the focus through seminars, presentations and mingle. Carl Film Forum 2017 was held September 11-12 .
