In hip Berlin we follow a bunch of young adults for 24 hours. The author Övünz turns thirty and his friends gather for celebration. Everyone in the group is in different ways on the border of a life crisis, with constantly failing ambitions to find a clear direction in life. Together, they wander aimlessly into Berlin’s nightlife. ‘Thirty’ is an intimate impressionistic portrait of young adults seeking for a meaning in life, set against the urban de-cadence and its distractions. With frugal aesthetics and underlying ironic humor, Simona Kostova captures the unsteady eclipse between anxiety and the idea of becoming an adult, while the audience is forced to con-front their own notions of what it means to grow up.
